How do you allocate a Odd KILL to a section? when a leader is HIT.

A German Section (in LIGHT COVER) consisting of:
• LMG team: 1 lone gunner manning the LMG
• Rifle team: 5 Riflemen
• One Junior Leader attached to both teams.
Is fired upon by a British section resulting in 4 HITS.

The German player rolls for the effect of the HITs resulting in 2 KILL results, one on each team.
Since the Leader is attached, a 1D6 is rolled with the result of 1, meaning that the Leader takes one of the KILL result instead of a trooper.
(Leader of course has to roll a D6 to see how bad is the effect)

The British player is keen to have the other KILL result on the lone figure LMG team as this will mean a Team is lost and Bad things happen roll.
The German player is keen to have the KILL result placed on the Rifle team to avoid the above situation.

The German argues that it’s up to him to decide:
Sighting that since the teams are in Cover and not in OPEN terrain, any odd HITs are allocated by the targeted player, applying the same logic to an odd HIT EFFECT result.

The British player argues that you can not apply the HITS procedure for odd hits and it’s up to him to decide where the odd HIT effect result is placed.

My question is how do you know which team will suffer the Loss of a man?

thanks JOhn

Rules section 9.1.1. Green example box. Second paragraph.

“The player chooses to remove the man from the rifle team” indicates that the player whose troops are receiving the casualties chooses which team they take the non-leader casualty from.

I am sure in this case it would not be from the LMG team.

Yes, the owning player always selects the casualties on his squad, so it's the German player's choice.

Yup we play it that the owning player chooses the kill.

However, you could easily use a random roll to choose the team just like you choose the leader if there us nore than one.
