Leaders on campaign

Post by Capt Fortier » Sat Jul 13, 2019 5:22 am

When describing a force for a campaign, is it OK to list multiple leaders across multiple units (eg. as per the colour coding below), and allow the player to determine which leaders will lead which units when it comes to specific actions?

Capitaine Valéry Batteux, Status III [Senior Commander]
Lt. Casca de Palk, Status II
Sous-Lt. Olivier Fouché, Status I
Sgt. Côme Lazard, Status II
Cpl. Gaston Sadoul, Status I

One Groups of eight French Grenadiers, Muskets (Regulars)
One Group of eight French Voltigeurs, Muskets (Regulars)
Six Groups of eight French Line, Muskets (Conscripts & Volunteers)
Two Groups of six French Voltigeur Skirmishers, Muskets (Skirmishers)

Lt. Vivien Robillard, Status II
Cpl. Pichet Cliche, Status I

Two Groups of eight French Dragoons, Carbine & Sabre (Dragoons)

Sous-Lt. Guenegan Le Boudec, Status I
One Light Artillery + five crew

Also, does that balance of leaders to troops look about right (noting it is likely that during the campaign some of the units would form a detachment)?

Can't see why not. The force Commander should be free to allocate leaders as he thinks fit, though I expect you will probably have some routine pairings.

Balance looks OK, roughly 1 Status Level per Group.

Just wondered why you have gone for a Grenadier group rather than 2 Voltigeurs in line. The latter is easier to use as a Formation, but you might be using the optional rule for combining different troop types.

Good suggestion John - it was more about having a mix of regular and conscript, and the 2 groups of Voltigeurs in Line would do that nicely! Thanks for feedback.
