Attaching MMG's

Post by Pvt weezle » Mon Jan 07, 2019 3:58 pm

Can I choose an mmg as support and then attach it to a squad so it can be commanded by a Jr leader? Feeling a bit silly as I can't find an answer in the book.........feeling as though I can't see the forest through the trees. Came up in last game game and we decided "no" as it would be too powerful although seems as though if deployed in same terrain and next to the squad all would be firing at same time......? I.e. On a three

No, JLs can only command the men from their squad. SLs can command any men from their battalion, which would generally include machine guns (although technically from outside the battalion in British service they were generally attached semi-permanently so you can just treat them as if they are).

You can certainly site your MG with an infantry squad, and they'll benefit from some hits being shared with the riflemen. But the JL can't command the MG crew, and they track shock separately. To fire the MG you'll need a 1 or a shout from a nearby SL.
