Derby World Wargames

Post by grompix »

The 'Border Reivers' will be putting on another big General d'Armee demonstration game at Derby World Wargames this weekend (7th 8th October).
http://www.derbyworlds.com/
We were/are supposed to be demonstrating a Bolt Action Korea game but that needed to be changed at the last minute so we are doing 'Quatre Bras 1815' again (as we did at Claymore - but more players this time).
We are still calling it 'Cross of Iron' but this time it alludes to the Dutch 1815 medal instead (cough - I know that was silver but...)
We will be located on stand 4. Please come over for a chat.
Regards
Chris ;)

Here are the pictures we took of the Quatre Bras demo game at Derby World Wargames Convention. It was held at a new location this year and was further to travel for us (being nearer Leicester than Derby). Many people thought the venue too small for the number of traders and games and our space was very tight indeed (as the pics and video will testify). So apologies in advance for rules, dice, bottles, coffee cups, quick-sheets and various other detritus you can see scattered on the battlefield; there really was no space at all to put stuff anywhere.
Lots of people showed a good deal of interest in our display and numerous questions were asked about the rules. The most common question was 'is this the latest version of General de Brigade?' I think the similarity of the two names is the confusing factor there. Some thought it was Grand Tactical (like Blucher I suppose) but all were very taken with the innovative command and control mechanic and we were able to demonstrate how it worked to quite a few people as we played. Some had played it already and wanted to see whether how we carried out certain rules were similar to their own interpretations.
All in all a very enjoyable weekend but rather frustrating in the cramped space we were allocated.
Two of us came back with sore throats - all that talking I suppose!
Enjoy the pics and video.

Sorry about the blurred shots, I decided to leave my 'proper' camera at home and use my phone camera - bad mistake!
