For our second game, I decided on a desert war clash. An M13/41 and a Pz III J took on a Matilda II and a Crusader III.
A fun battle, which ended with only the Crusader left, all the other tanks being brewed up.
We used the cards this time (one per player), but only one got used.
Some shots of the action round a small oasis.
The Matilda was the first tank to get blown up.
After some ineffectual shots at its front and rear, the Panzer III zoomed round behind the lumbering Matlida, and got in a rear shot which killed it.
The Panzer III was then taken out in turn by a rear shot from the Crusader. The M13/41 didn't quite roll high enough on its move to get a shot at the Crusader, which then zoomed round and killed it.
Mobility is king in fairly open terrain! In the hedgerows of Normandy, not so much.
We were playing across it, but it made very little difference after the first 3 moves or so - all the tanks were circling round the oasis like fighter planes trying to get on each others' tails.
