Nick/John,

I believe John's on point about late war Prussian brigades (divisions). Dave addresses the issue on p. 9 under Brigade Organization , point "e".

I don't think the issue of hordes of tiny Russian (or other) brigades inflating the ADC count is addressed directly in the rules. Perhaps a common sense adjustment or house rule would help.

Other thoughts?

I do think that at a high level there needs to be some Corps/ Divisional/ Army National rules to reflect the different capabilities of armies at those levels. Of course ability should also reflect those of the commanders on the day.

This can be built into scenarios as John has suggested and perhaps that’s the best way forward but it does require players to agree these concepts which may see their favourite forces ability to manoeuvre/fight restricted somewhat? :?

Just some initial thoughts...

a) Artillery brigades, (consisting solely of two or more artillery batteries) do not generate an ADC.

b) Cossack brigades (consisting solely of two or more Cossack units) do not generate an ADC.

c) Brigadier Points Cost: Excellent = 125. Standard = 75. Poor = 50.

I would certainly be happy with both a) and b).
I don't use points but c) looks OK too.

Hi Dave,

Similar view to John. But would some National/ Personal Characteristics included. So good commanders with good command structures come out top, but great commanders with lesser command structures are constrained simply because they are surrounded with buffoons!!

Dave,

The thing with Brigadiers is that unlike GdeB these rules don’t have a way to calculate Brigadier Ability, although you do have rules for this in GdeB (of which I’m fortunate enough to have the Gentlemans Edition)?

Does the Artillery Assault give every battery in the artillery brigade +2 CD when they fire?

Yes, the definition of Artillery Assault Fire refers to batteries in the brigade in plural. The bonus +2 CD isn't confined to a single battery.
