Align after Contact?

Post by mike_k_h » Fri Sep 01, 2017 4:10 pm

Hi,
Picture the defender D being contacted on their front left corner by attacker A.
Would D pivot or some such such that the front edges of the two units are in contact?
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,

The rules say in paragraph 4 on page 44 under "Conducting the Charge" that "the attacker should aim to charge the centre of the target unit (or as near as possible), using the most direct route." As far as I can see there is nothing to say that the attacker stops at the first point of contact. The aim seems to be to avoid glancing contacts.

So in your example I would move the other bases in the attacking unit forward to maximise the contact with the front face of the defender.

John
