Can a routing unit fall back on friend from different brigad

Does a routing unit have to fall back on a unit from the same brigade, or can it fall back on any unit?

As far as I can see they can fall back on any friendly unit, there does not appear to be any qualification as there is for units providing support in charges. However, given the importance which the rules attach to brigades maintaining their own position in the battle line and avoiding mixing them up, I would be inclined to require the routers to fall back to the rear of the friendly brigade not just to the rear of the nearest unit.

Another good reason to hold brigades in reserve as was done historically for precisely this reason.

DD1,

Yep, John is spot on, any friendly unit will suffice.
