Unformed from melee

Post by DD1 » Mon Jul 03, 2017 6:33 am

Just wondering if there is a general rule that governs units becoming unformed following melee, or is it purely driven by the result on the melee table.

Some rules have all units becoming unformed following a melee.

No not that I have seen. It's driven by the result of the Charge Procedure and Melee Results. Some units if successful can remain formed, such as cavalry getting a "Return to own lines" result or infantry getting a "Take the Ground" result with +2 or more casualty difference.
Losers suffer worse results which will leave them unformed after they retire or subsequently rally from a retreat. Drawn combats in some cases will leave both sides unformed.

That's how we play, just seems unusual/different.
