Advancing Close Order Troops

Hi All

Am I correct in saying that skirmishers must fall back in front of advancing close order troops. Maintaining 3" between them.

That the advancing close order troops may their own skirmishers in front of them is of no consequence in relation to forcing enemy skirmishers to fall back: its the close order troops that force the action.

Yes that’s correct. See paragraph 6 on page 55.
Note also the advancing skirmishers cannot move into contact with the enemy skirmishers since they cannot Charge. Paragraph 2 page 41.
