Blenneville or Bust query.

Post by Cerebus » Sat May 26, 2018 4:29 pm

Quick question on the Blenneville or Bust scenario book. It says that there are briefings for both players and an Umpire. What if we don't have an umpire, are the missions still playable? Or will they need major adjustment.

The scenarios are all playable without a referee. But it takes away some of the element of surprise if both players read the referees briefing and it's a bit unfair if only one of them reads it.

If there are only two of us, then we split the Umpire's duties between us. One person reads the Umpire's briefing and works out factors for shooting and stuff, one person runs the card deck and flow of the game. Works well.

So as we won’t have an umpire would you recommend then that no one reads the umpires briefing? Or is there stuff in there that is needed?

There's some stuff in the Referees briefing that's needed.

For example, one of the scenarios tells the US player "You win the battle if you dominate the table at the end of the game, with the Umpire defining whether you have achieved dominance or not."

The German briefing states "Your objective is simple: hold your positions. You win the game if you prevent the Americans achieving dominance over the table. The Umpire will define whether the Americans have achieved dominance or not."

The referees briefing says exactly what constitutes dominance "there are no German units on table with three or More available Actions."

You should be able to work something out though.

Okey dokey. As we haven't got an umpire and are unlikely to get one I think we'll both have access to the Ump's briefing. Thanks Derek.
