Activation by squad for small games

Hi !

For now I only have about 40 americans and 30 germans painted for Blitzkrieg, a french rule for which a squad is figured by a base with 3-4 minis. So my company is 3 platoons each 3 bases of 3 minis.

I intend to play IABSM, but to try the game without painting two more platoons per side, I want to try a platoon vs platoon game, with 1 tanks on one side, 2 questions

In this case, is it better to activate by squad (1 card activate one squad instead of a platoon)
Or keeping a card for the entire infantry force of one side ?

Does the game scale well at this size or do I need a full company to enjoy it ?

Do you think using one blind per squad is good ?

Thanks

If you want to play a platoon v platoon game then I strongly recommend to try Chain of Command rather than IABSM, it's specifically designed for that level of game and you have most of the figures you need to field two platoons. In my own view IABSM works best at the company level which is what it is designed for.

If you want to try out the IABSM rules with the figures you have then I would suggest you find a way to track casualties, such as a micro dice, and treat each of your 3 figure bases as representing an 8 man section. You manoeuvre and fire your sections as units anyway so it should work although you will lose some of the visual effect and ability to cover ground. Nevertheless it should give you a feel for if the rules are for you before investing in more figures.

You could also look at Troops, Weapons & Tactics CoC's predecessor.

I actually prefer it to CoC but that is purely my opinion.

Cheers!
