Forward Observation Officers

Simple question. Do you add this card to the starting deck or do they run on Blinds cards until they call in support, or are spotted etc?

Yes. I don't think it's specified. Personally I run them on the blind card until the first shots (ranging or otherwise) arrive on the table.

Up to player's preference with us. Having it under blinds card keeps their presence secret, so usually people prefer that.

In general IABSM is very much a toolkit and, as you seem to be finding out, there's a good few areas where you have to work out how you want to do things yourself.

I find it works better with an umpire, you can do more with it that way.

You're right Derek, it does seem to be a set of rules where house rules are required, which I think is great rather than being told "you must do it this way".

Not enough people for an umpire yet.....
