Commando JOP ideas

Post by Truscott Trotter »

Hi Chaps,

Looking for some inspiration/ideas. I have made 4 individual dioramas for my Soviet, German and Brit Para forces but am stuck for some ideas for my Commandos. They are in MW/LW Uniform for Italy or NWE.

I have one JOP nearly completed - a FAO and downed pilot (doubles for a real FAO in BA). One of the issues I have with my Soviet and German JOP's is they are easily mistaken for real troops and moved by mistake, so I am looking to make these distinctive.

Could do ammo dump for one but that still leaves two to come up with.

Thinking maybe some Partisan saboteurs?

Any ideas?

TIA

TT

For your Soviets, why don't you use an NKVD officer (with blue pants to make him really stand out) with pistol in hand and couple of Soviet corpses nearby?

Some underwear on a washing line perhaps? :D

Or more appropriately a couple of Bergen rucksacks and a spare weapon or two maybe.

Hmmm I do have a few spare Bergan packs from the Warlord plastic Commandos =- maybe add a bicycle or two as they used those on D-Day?

Just finished reading Commando Men by Bryan Samain - they seemed to do a lot of digging in. Anybody got some ideas on how to fit that on a 40mm basee?

Is there a suitable figure for Mad Jack Churchill - armed with longbow and/or claymore?

Ahh good idea there is one by Stoessi Miniatures, I also seem to rember one other one somewhere but it may have been a conversion.
Need to put him in scene / context any thoughts?
