Fighting Season

Post by Black Prince »

I was going to use TWaT and Rock the Kasbah for some modern gaming but I have just found CoC and something called Fighting Season. Any idea when Fighting Season will be released? I plan to use CoC with 15mm figures mainly due to cost is there any issues with using 15mm figures with CoC?

Cheers
Keith

No, 15mm is fine. It's actually closer to the ground scale than 28mm. As long as you base in a way that allows you to remove single casualties you're good.

As for Fighting Season, I'd expect it some time next year. The core game is done, but last I heard Rich said he still had to do the whole campaign system that gives it all some context. Because it's a counter insurgent conflict you don't really just throw down and battle. You've got the whole political and hearts/minds layer that goes on top and gives each side objectives, which will be asymmetrical.

I use 15mm and have never had an issue. As said, it matches the ground scale and I like that too.

I believe the hope is an April release.

Kind regards,

Easter Sunday is March 27th. Is this an omen?

Richard has stated that he is aiming to release Fighting Season at or around Salute next year.

Check the blog for some battle reports and other bits about the game: http://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?cat=24

Thanks for the welcome and the answers.
Do I need to buy CoC or will Fighting Season be a complete set of rules?
Will the Fighting Season basic combat system work for platoon actions in Lebanon 1980s, the Syrian Civil War or Somali hostage rescue game?

Does CoC and Fighting Season uses cards for activation or some other method?

Thanks
Keith

Watch these on youtube, they will give you a good idea of how CoC works.

(The link is just the first one, check the toofatlardies youtube channel for the others.)

You wont need CoC for Fighting Season as it will be a stand alone, but you should buy it anyway! Its fantastic! :)

Having playtested FS, it is very similar to CoC but to be released as a stand alone IIRC. It appears to suit most modern/Post WW2 conflicts.
