A pistol? That's cheating. What you really want is a Japanese tank with a bloke with a sword!

indeed but lets not dis battlefront too much many of their players are coming form the Power armoured pixie side of the hobby & expect that sort of thing.

They are also responsible single-handedly for starting the explosion of 15mm WWII stuff we now have to use in better WWII wargames.

Well I am digging out an old platoon blister of British infantry to paint up for my trips up to London.

And I do believe that there are instances of tanks clearing objectives with just the commanders personal weapon. I think in operation Goodwood.

On the 2 pounder having an HE factor. This is one of those cases where I am hung if I do, and hung if I don't. My thoughts are that giving the 2 pounder what is essentially a minimal HE factor allows for extreme situations where they may, in desperation, engage infantry targets. I do totally agree that the MG or the 3.7" CS mortar would be weapons of choice against such a target, but if they are not around then this is a last resort option.

IIRC Rich they had HE rounds later in the Western Desert campaign (not in France) but considered them pretty useless so were not used much - they were sooo relieved when they got the Grant with a 75mm HE round that finally Brit tankers had something to engage the German ATG's with

Greetings

A useful summary of 2pdr ammunition production is available at http://www.wwiiequipment.com/index.php? ... &Itemid=58.

There seem to be assertions of the existence of HE earlier but I haven't seen anything definitive.

Regards

Edward

Has anyone got an actual reference or quote for that?

I've read similar on forums before, but nobody's ever been able to say where they got the information.
