It almost looks like it's just white and black maybe ... What kind of brown you thinking ? Like German black brown ?

Raw umber base colour.
Wash with diluted burnt umber
Dry brush with a buff colour

start drybrushing with the chocolate or chestnut, lighten up to buff, as light as you see necessary

Buff? Vallejo buff ? I finished the hedge piece I think it came out pretty good.

You can see the full write up on the blog historicalgamingguide.blogspot.com but when you say lighten up to buff what do you mean just lighten the color with buff and continue dry brushing ? I'm sorry I'm probably being a pain this is just the first time I've painted anything like this

please don't expect me to know all Vallejo colour codes. I use paints from 10 companies :)

Your hedged field came out nice!

only minor objection is that next one might have the furrows in the same direction as the access paths, not across ;)

Thank you !! And the next one I make I will deff put the furrows in that direction ! So I should start by dry brushing in chocolate brown and then lighten the brown with buff until I get as light as I want ? Will that give me this look ?

I'm also working on a fenced off garden and I'm looking for a dark turned over soil look I'm gonna add some sand to the middle and spray again before painting though
