Soviet 1939-1940 lists up
Greetings
Rich has posted the early Soviet lists on the blog: http://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/wp-cont ... 39-402.pdf
Only thing I've noticed so far is that under the SVT-38 entry there should be an 'any' not an 'and'.
Regards
Edward

Thanks for posting the link here, I was having trouble with the yahoo group one.

Looks good - I notice there is an explanation of the Commissar rule in this list - but not on the main rules for the LW Soviets even though it is a support choice.
I remember the role of the Commissar changed over the curse of the war so I was wondering if I had missed the rule before?

Rich posted the Commissar rule on here in the CoC FAQ thread before he created the 1939 Soviet list, so its probably not changed.

Here's the quote from COC FAQ:
COMMISSARS:
In essence, a Commissar is activated on a Command Dice roll of 5. You decide
whether to activate him or to put the +1 on your Chain of Command score. So he
is set apart from the real military men.
They move as normal. Being with a squad they count as two men for morale
purposes - i.e. against Shock.
When a Leader is hit they may sacrifice themselves BEFORE any roll is made to
see what the effect is.

The role of the Commissar changes hugely across the conflict and how their instructions were interpreted changes even more. So a Commissar in 1941 will be a nastier piece of work that this one in 1939.

Greetings
Note also that if anyone wants to drop the squad sizes to 12 (rather than 15) as discussed on the yahoo group then going by the discussions on understrength units I think you could reduce the force value by -4 (4 squads x 3 men =12; -1 point per 3 men per platoon).

Re: Soviet 1939-1940 lists up
I'd say drop only by 3 points if you decide to use 12-men squads. I know the "reduction" in men is a full squad but no LMG's or other support weapons etc. are lost. Force rating +3 for Regular and -5 for Green should be good. They've still got 2 Senior Leaders and 48 men with rifles and 4 LMG 's in the platoon.

Can we get the 12 man squad as an option on the PDF? I'm planning my support level for the Baker Company kick starter...
. Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to go with 2 of his Russian Platoons to get to the 12 rifles (+ NCO and LMG team) in the 15 man squads!

It is but for some reason my browser wouldn't display it without use of the refresh key- not done that before on lard island news.
