Blitzkrieg - Off Table MG Support Option

Hi,

I've tried searching for 'off table MG' but the search won't run as the words are too common.

It states that when you first fire the MG a marker is placed by 'the table edge'. Is this the German's deployment table edge or any table edge? It's probably the former - would make sense - but what do other people play?
