When you consider how huge the standard Polish infantry squads are it seems almost daft, but hey ho. Can’t really see how five points advantage over the average Kraut platoon of 1939 is going to balance against three MG34s. Soft vehicles count for nothing in close combat.

A red die will definitely help though.

Same problem with Polish cav, :| What to do?

Naah, the powers that be cared little for such details as health and safety and comfort  From the designers perspective the platoons had nearly 3 times the firepower on the ground as the mounted cavalry: 31:17 men, 3:1 BARs, 2:1 (maybe) AT rifles. So they probably thought, initially, that this was more than enough.

While the precise thinking behind the giant infantry squads is lost in the mists of time (and the subject of much debate to this day), the reasons were likely predominantly not related to combat. Rather, it was firstly expected that the infantry squad would lose a lot of manpower to march losses (ie men falling out because they could no longer walk due to exhaustion, illness, etc). Secondly, during combat, it was inevitable that a number of men would be taken out from the firing line - to run messages (or even set up messenger relays), to fetch ammo, to load magazines, to assist the wounded back etc. And that is before we take into account, sickness, casualties, blatant cowardice, ordinary criminality and casual drunkenness. With the weak logistics that the Polish army was saddled with, making up these losses quickly was a pipedream. To put it into context, the regulations expected a 9-man squad to be still effective, giving a redundancy of over 50%! A motorised unit with substantially better communications simply was not going to have the same scale of problems.

However, like the British Army incidentally, the organisers of the motorised brigades. no doubt mindful of how this would affect games of CoC :o :D, decided after initial experimentation on manoeuvres, to add two more riflemen to each section. This was almost certainly implemented in the building of the WBP-M. The plan was to form the WBP-M according to the latest TOEs and to upgrade the 10 bk, once the WBP-M was completed. There was not the funding or equipment to do both simultaneously. A certain corporal messed these beautiful plans up and the 10 bk went to war with 8 man sections (or less).

In short, if you want better stats - stick with the WBP-M. Decidedly more modelling fun with a wider range of vehicles, weapons and troop types to play with as well. Sadly no cool-looking coal-scuttle helmets......

My first thought was to add a sniper and anti tank team to the platoon HQ and keep an SL and a SJL/JL as well. The other six so
Ideas in the HQ will only be used to fill out the depleted ranks.

Would the sections have one JL or two. My default is one or is the BAR leader an inferior JL?
