Maybe equate each position to a team for BTH rolls and for pinning and routing? Routing would mean leaving the position and sheltering somewhere on the boat rather than abandoning ship.

I agree about the team concept would divide into various (2) gun crews, landing party and command/control party
Also would say moving positions is 1 initiative

indirectly it's that model that inspired me to go for this! first i wanted to have a go at lasercutting my own, but i quickly decided I wasn't that gifted and would be unable to design such a piece myself. A couple of weeks later I finally succumbed and bought a 3D printer and figured, let's give it a go and see what this badboy can print!

It's worth thinking about, especially if you're doing a Russian campaign, where some of the riverine gunboats had tank turrets slapped onto them!
