question in regards to 2" mortar smoke

Post by JOHN BOND 001 »

A British 2" mortar smoke round landed over the German infantry gun but still allowed two of the crew to be located outside of the smoke.
My question:
How would you treat the gun in this situation in regards to activating it to fire?

thanks John.

I would have no problem firing it as the LOS is not blocked.

John , even though the rest of the crew with the ammo are in smoke that blocks LOS, would not the crew not be able to find the shells and the loading breech?

They'd be fine. If they can handle the gun at night, they can do it in smoke. They're all within arm's reach of each other and they'd be able to see that far at least.

Bearing in mind the difference in model and ground scales I’d use the gun breach, not the position of the crew, to determine the LOS. So as John says it has LOS still so could fire. If only the barrel was sticking out I’d rule LOS blocked.

The smoke might block LOS to the gun but the troops within and in such close proximity to each other would still be able to carry out their drills.

Is there a leader with the crew to enable the gun to fire?
