Have a look at FAQ explains the cover thing quite well now.
Grenades are prob best way to deal with it.

Thanks, I saw the section after your comment where grenades ignore all cover ..... This leads me onto another question .... do troops in entrenchments count as in an enclosed space..... For infantry I assume its not as they could be in individual fox holes, or in a trench system with kinks to reduce this type of fragmentation effect ... but for an AT Gun? Would an AT gun be considered in a confined space

Thats what they were designed for in WW I

That sounds like close combat to me so cover from fire wouldn't apply....
