Danni,
You might be interested in a topic posted some time ago which discussed how you might introduce a greater degree of granularity into the classification of troops from the Green, Regular, Elite we currently have, which could also be used to track a unit's progression through the War. Unfortunately I failed to bookmark it but some better organised soul on here may be able to point you towards it.

That would be Ed Leland's suggestion of an 'experienced' rating to each class?

I didn't bookmark it, but in essence it was;

a) If fired at and hit, all natural dice rolls of ‘6’ are re-rolled. All re-rolls of 1-3 are discarded; the remainder are added to the hits previously rolled.

b) Add a single dice per team when in Close Combat, but they are otherwise treated the same as other troops of their category.

I liked it a lot as it just built on the existing three classes by creating intermediary steps between them and an 'elite plus' class.

Oh yeah, you just jogged the guttering flame from my dwindling brain-cells! Wasn't this very topic mentioned either in a Special or on an on-line blog? I am 99 and 9/10th sure I that is where I have seen this topic mentioned before.
