Another Period To Play

Post by John Thomas8 »

I was strolling by a booth at the local con last weekend and spotted.....24 sailing ships....already painted....looking above average.....I also have a copy of KMH in need of ships so I can take them out for a spin....24 sailing ships....I was thinking the nice fellow could reasonably ask for $250 and get it....but no....$100 and I now have to go get something to use for an ocean for terrain....got really lucky.

There is a Russian blogger out there who has done a fabulous table for his naval games. http://das-voize.blogspot.com/

His table looks really sharp. I still use my old Card Pirates game ships for KMH. Post up some pictures of your new minis. I want to be jealous.

$100 for 24 assembled, painted sailing ships? You're going to be arrested on highway robbery charges if you're not careful! The cheapest painting service I've ever seen that would do 1/1200 sailing ships wanted $55 each, not counting the cost of the miniature. If you wanted it fully rigged, not just basic standing rigging it went up to about $75 each.

What scale are they, and what brand? You have to post pictures of them. I have quite a few Langton models, and they are always crowd pleasers at conventions.

Excellent looking ships. I'm sure you will get a lot of fun from those. Being card driven you can play KMH as a solo game.

They look like the 1:2400 scale ships produced by Tumbling Dice which are what I use, rather than 1:1200 so Brian can maybe feel a little less jealous. :D
Still a real bargain find at 24 for $100.

Actually, I'm guessing those are probably 1/1200 scale ships from Navwar. I had a few of those myself when I started doing naval gaming.
