Question of scale

Postby Michael » Sun Aug 13, 2017 9:22 am

Hi,
I have built two small fleets of 1/2400 scale ships basically to work out the mechanics of a couple rule sets before diving in and buying the more expensive Langton models of 1/200. My question is for scale purposes, do I reduce the turning circle templates, the firing ranges and basic speeds of my ships by 50% using the 1/2400 scale. Kiss me Hardy rule set are the one I am finding more too my liking.
Thanks
Michael

Hi Michael,
No need to change anything, the rules work extremely well as written with 1:2400 scale ships which I use all the time.

Personally I prefer the look of 1:2400 ships for squadron and fleet actions since it highlights the vastness of the sea relative to the ships but it is still easy to distinguish the different ship types. The Langton 1/1200 ships are beautiful and perfect for individual ship actions, but once you get 3-4 per side the table looks too crowded in my view and you begin to lack room to manoeuvre.

Each to their own,
John

Hi John, thanks for the quick response. I will use the rules as intended. I did reduce a set of turning templates by 50% but it's a bit fiddly.
Regards
Michael.
