My Second Convention Elephant Game

Post by John Thomas8 » Tue Sep 03, 2013 9:14 pm

I ran the Kernstown scenario last October and that went well, so this weekend at Southern Front, I'll rolling out Brandy Station to a wider audience than it got back in June.

It's a great rule set and the all-cav force composition makes use of the cavalry rules moreso than almost any other ACW battle.

John, what scale figures do you guys use for Elephant???

Play a lot of F and F using 15's, would Elephant work with them??

Cheers

15s would be great. I did mine cav on a budget, 1/72 plastics. A mix of Imex, Italeri and Airfix.....the Airfix were a bit small IMHO but your 15s will work with no problem.

Like most TFL rules, basing consistency is paramount, not the number of figures or the sizes of the bases.

Cheers John,

All our stuff is based for F and F so it's all the same.

Now to get the rules!! :-)

Ya, F&F basing is fine. You can account for the 4 "strength points" per base in a variety of ways, whatever appeals to your eye. I use small red beads.

It doesn't look like shooting causes much damage, but when you're deep into the game and regiments are routing off or retreating from losses, it'll hit ya that the loss of all the offensive/defensive fire aren't really losses, it just speeds the game up.

TCHAE is the TFL rule set I've run the most and they're a really good way to spend an evening.
