Manufacturers figures used in SP

Post by Doomweaver » Wed Jul 27, 2016 9:27 pm

Guys,

I was wondering what manufacturers figures people are using for SP ?

I have been putting together a Napoleonic army for Black Powder using mainly Victrix and Perry plastics.
I have consequently some spare figures from each box, but they do not have the poses I reckon I need for a SP game.....I need something a bit more dynamic and "skirmishy"....

I have looked at the Perry metals and also Warlord Games Chosen Men box for the 95th...reckon they look more suitable

Any more thoughts please?

We use Front Rank Napoleonics which are often criticised as being chunky but they're lovely to paint and look great on the table. For ACW we use Renegade, Redoubt and a bit of Crusader. A mate's AWI are all Front Rank too.

For my Napoleonics I use a range of figures.
Spanish Guerillas - Front Rank (assorted poses)
French Infantry in formation - Perry and Warlord plastics, Perry metal (all march attack)
French Skirmisher in - Perry plastics and metal (skirmish poses)
British Line Infantry in formation- Perry plastics. (loading and making ready)
British rifles - Perry plastic and metal. (skirmish poses)

We use Perry mainly, followed by Victrix. Lately also some Warlord but the gap in quality is abysmal versus the other two

I use a mix of Victrix, Perry, Front Rank, Redoubt, Foundry, Prince August, Hinchliffe, Minifigs and Elite.

Nobody complains :-)

I really like the Warlord plastic Late French Line Infantry in greatcoats. They make up most of my non-skirmishing French troops. I prefer them to Perrys. Twelve of the formed units in the picturebelow are Perrys (and all the skirmishers) but most of the formed up infantry are Warlord plastics.

And here's a close up of a few of them.

They're really easy to build and paint and look just fine on the table.

Derek
Very nice lookimg paint work indeed
My comment came because I recently ordered Warlord's Chasseurs a Cheval. I found the sculpting of the figures (specially horses) much lower in quality than the Perry's Cuirassiers (currently on my painting desk); in addition there are no options for multi-poses (all the models are exactly the same) and finally the box do not include the bases (which Perry also includes).
