Compilation of Questions/Answers re Dux

Post by john de terre neuve » Wed Oct 29, 2014 10:30 am

I have placed a compilation list of all the clarifications I have received about the Dux rules on my blog. http://fuentesdeonoro.blogspot.com/2014 ... iarum.html

I hope there are no horrible errors, and again thank you to all who spent time carefully answering my questions.

A handy resource. But there's a mistake right at the start

"Card Sequence: Cards are only played on activation of a Noble, not at any other time."

That should read - Suited cards are only played on activation of a Noble, not at any other time, unsuited cards can be played at any time.

And of course if you're using the Raiders rules suited cards can be played when a cavalry unit with an attached Noble is activated.

Thanks Derek, but if you read statement 2 under cards you will see that is exactly what is said. The first statement is a clarification of the actual process of using cards in offense and defense.

Not a mistake there, but elsewhere maybe!

Thanks for the compliation.

We are just getting up to speed on Dux (get ready for a few questions) and wanted to make sure I reviewed this and the already answered posts.

But, I think this bit is incorrect and that nobles are only reduced in range when they are actually in the melee: "When attached to a group can only issue commands to groups within 3” and only rally shock off group to whom he is attached."

Thanks again for the complilation,
Scott

Hi grumblinggrognard,

Yes, you are correct, those limitations only apply when a noble is personally engaged in a melee. They don't even apply if he is attached to a group that is fighting but is directing from the rear (this can be a good tactic depending on the circumstances, especially if the group is part of a formation or there are friends within his full command range).

Cheers,
Jim

I notice the Champions have to stay with the Lord, I am sure senility has not yet claimed me and I read somewhere that they can act independently but I cannot prove it. That routing troops still face the enemy cannot be correct surely, I have never played it that way.

Despite having my own compilation sheet it is not easy to explain to others that what is in there is real despite not being in the book, especially if they have the book.

I would still play the original game but all the extra figures I had have been recruited into larger armies.

It is funny how a post 6 months old can resurrect itself. I was just about to work on my own FAQ when I noticed this post.

The issue about Nobles in and out of the battle lines was recently clarified to me.

I have ammended the original post and add a few other clarifications that I have had since the original post.

But I am anxiously waiting for Derek's official FAQ to come out as well as Mike Whitaker's QRS (he of the superb CoC QRS).

Maybe we can expect them by the Deep Fried Lard Day in June........hint, hint.........nudge, nudge.
