some Coastal Patrol Baltic action

Post by mluther » Sun May 27, 2018 11:35 pm

Not exactly an AAR but I really want to mention another fun set of TFL rules--Coastal Patrol
I Finally finished my 1/600 minis from PT Dockyard and did a simple game with 3 SBootes, 3 Rbootes, 3 G-5, and 3 MO-4s.
Totally hypothetical, but something to get us used to the rules. And we were fortunate to have Jim Schmidt (the author of Coastal Patrol rules) was on hand to keep us from floundering badly.
As it was the Mo-4s faced off against the Sbootes (S38 'class') and the little G-5s went against the Raumbootes.
The G5s managed to torpedo a Rboote against pretty incredible odds(Certainly something that never happened historically). Otherwise the game predictably went to the Kreigsmarine.
Looking forward to something a bit more historical scenario-wise.
Thanks,
Mark Luther

Great to see some Coastal Patrol action. They are a fun set of rules which deserve more attention, Jim Schmidt did an excellent job writing them and I for one would be interested in knowing if he has expended or developed them since they were first written.

I'm planning on running a game at this Saturday's Deep Fried Lard Day so this is great encouragement. A Convoy attack somewhere in the southern North Sea.

Can I ask what the tear drop markers represent? Unspotted boats?

John

Jim hasn't done any more work on CP. I had to do some stats for the Russkies G5s and that variety of Rboote.
The teardrop markers are indeed un spotted or dummy boats.
Thanks
