That "triple 1" really screwed you, didn't it? I bet even a 1,1,2 would have worked, wouldn't it? Commiseratory PM sent.

The NCO tripped and fell and the rest stopped in confusion 😋

WOW! Another great account and terrific fight. With that oh-so-effective pre-game barrage, I think all of us felt that the Germans had this in the bag, but it does show how a cool-headed, never-say-die defence can claw back victory (so ably represented in the recovery of that broken LMG team). As frustrating as those low rolls to get across the road were, it really does help drive the narrative of the game - you can see by now how "Perbais" would be meaning "bad things happen" for your Germans, and so you can understand how it might create the kind of hesitation from which battles are lost...

Sadly he probably tripped over some of the corpses of the previous platoon.......😢

Quite a dramtic twist of fortune. The Germans were so unlucky in that squad's tardy crossing of the road. By this stage of a campaign I'd be looking at bypassing the village to cut off the defenders, or call in a serious artillery pounding. Looking forward to how this plays out.

Personally I would wait until lunch time.

The French defenders will then put down their weapons, get out chairs and tables and open up their picnic baskets and wine bottles , then you can just wander in and ask them politely to surrender.

The will probably ask you to wait until lunch is finished you uncivilised beasts! :P 8-)

How much are you ruing that opportunity to shoot at the broken LMG with SL and JL attached? I think that may have been one of the critical moments in the game. A big drop in french FM at that point could have been a big help.

Yup potential drop in FM of 5 points there....I am sure MLB still wakes up in the middle of the night thinking of that one! 😂

Indeed. I’ve found it so tough to break into the village that I was single minded about taking every opportunity to push forward, unfortunately it meant taking my eye off the ball when it came to that broken team. That said they had no impact on the overall outcome as that was decided elsewhere, the main difference would have been to reduce the number of French casualties returned to their platoon. Nonetheless, poor play by me to let that opportunity slip through my fingers.
