Daily digests from the Yahoo Group now accessible through Lard Central http://www.netvibes.com/lardcentral#Yahoo_Group

Only one so far, but now that I've got it set up there should be a new one every day.

That's because I deleted it. It was there as part of the setup process, then I deleted it. There's other bits of deleted crap in there as well, left over from testing.

Just the one bit of active content, yesterdays Digest Number 12321.

I have been on and off the Yahoo Group many times as it is v. frustrating to use. Pendraken Miniatures have a brilliant forum engine which is so much better than Yahoo and TFL would benefit from merging the forum and the Yahoo into a new forum using the same engine as Pendraken - it has never been clear to me why there is a TFL blog, TFL forum and TFL Yahoo - merge them all for a declutter and somewhere we can all use all of the time.

Just saying!

As a matter of interest why do you think the software used for the Pendraken Forum is better than that used for the TFL forum? They both seem much the same to me.

A blog does a completely different job to a forum or a Yahoo Group.

Rich, and many of the other members members, like the Yahoo Group and there's an established community there. Rich is worried the community wouldn't move over to the forum if the Yahoo Group was closed, something that has been known to happen when other groups have been closed. It will keep on going until Yahoo pull the plug. Which will probably not be that long.

As to "merging" them, how do you propose to do that? As far as I know there's no easy way of exporting the content of a Yahoo Group then importing it to a forum. There's a Yahoo Archiver, but it doesn't seem to work at all well.

I just wish Rich would move all rules clarifications to a forum, where there's actually some chance of finding them.

Derek - I agree with some if not all of the points you made in your post.

This forum could be as good as the Pendraken forum if it had more subjects - breaking it down only by rules is not enough - as you say - the rule clarifications should all be in one place and all that needs is for this forum to have sub boards in each rule category. Similarly a files section with links would replace Yahoo.

A blog may indeed serve a different purpose but people still have to look in two or three places to see what is going on - Richard could have his own subject header in this forum and 'blog' away in that place alone.

Pendraken forum feels better as you can keep in touch with their products and the wider wargaming fraternity all in one place - not three.

Derek - thank you - I was unaware of Lard Central, which tells you something about me and something about Lard comms. ;)

I shall research, lurk and follow Lard Central with great interest, thanks again.
