Chris,
When you hit Reply to respond to a message on Yahoo it opens up a new box for you to type your message into. At the foot of that box on the left hand side is some text which says "Show previous message". If you click on that then the message you are replying to will be inserted below your answer.

Unfortunately that does require anyone responding to you to use it and can result in very lengthy message threads.
Also be careful not to hit the Cancel link below by mistake or you will lose all your message. Happened to me more times than I'd care to admit.

I'm amazed they're still wheezing along in 2016. I think Nicholas is probably right, it'll take the axe finally falling on the whole Yahoo empire before they'll shut down.

I'm about to give up on the Yahoo Group to be honest - it's easier herding cats than trying to navigate the structure and flow of conversations. I've given it a few days and it's still puzzling.

I use it a lot, but hardly ever online - I do it all through email, including searching posts. I never liked the Yahoo web pages, even before they changed them.

Given that, I actually prefer it to this forum, and fora in general. I can track discussions on a number of lists and respond when so inclined, just by checking my email. This is one of only two fora I regularly visit, and only for short periods each day. I tend to treat them like blogs I like, and check in on them once every few months.

Basically, if a site won't send me notifications I can pick up, and respond to, then I find it too much like work to keep track of them.

Cheers,
Jim

That's what RSS feeds are for. You should learn how to use the things.

Oh, I do, and that's mostly how I keep track of what is being posted on here!

They don't let you reply though...

There isn't one. Yet another black mark for Yahoo Groups.

Apparently there are tricks you can use to set one up http://blog.vexillia.me.uk/2013/12/yaho ... eturn.html
