Dealing with Spam
Hi All
A bit of guidance please.
I'm happy nuking spam posts: even though I can only delete each post individually, not a topic or a user, most of the spammers post 2-3 times, and there are generally 3-4 of them a day: so only a max of say 12 posts to spam (spammers with 20+ posts I ask Rich to nuke at source).
When, however, you lot reply and make witty comments, some of these spam posts can go up to 5-6 comments, significantly increasing the workload to nuke them: remember, I can't nuke a topic, just a post.
What do you want me to do?
1) Leave the topic alone, even if reported, so more witty comments can be made
2) Nuke every post in the topic, including the witty ones you post (so please don't post any if this is your answer)
3) Nuke just the original spam post, leaving people wondering what all the remaining witty comments refer to
Answers please!
Cheers

Re: Dealing with Spam
Best to nuke the original post ASAP in my view so 3) since that's means least work for you.
That might also discourage the witty replies.

The wit is I suspect a result of frustration with the continual spam - nuke em ASAP
Oh and could you please ask Rich if be can tighten security in some way as there are more leaks than the Whitehouse

Re: Dealing with Spam
More moderators could nuke the posts faster.

Re: Dealing with Spam
Surely it makes more sense to stop spammers registering rather than making more mods?

Re: Dealing with Spam
Nuke it all.
And make it more difficult for the spammers to get on board by moderating the first post and insisting it’s a proper introductory one - recruit more moderators if necessary.

Honestly whatever makes your life easier! The sarky responses have got a chuckle out of me but they're not a solution unfortunately
