Re: Lard Magazine 2019
The problem seems to be that the Forum Admin can only take one person to nuke members at a time. I, and a couple of others, can nuke the individual posts, but only Rich can nuke the spammers themselves. So, today, for example, we had one "member", Lucianu, posting the same piece of spam 18 times...which takes time to clean out post by post. Rich is working on a solution...but, if as is usual, he's away around the world promoting Lard, he's often not able to nuke someone for a couple of days.
So please bear with us, and do keep reporting the spam: makes it easier to find.
Cheers R

Thank you for taking the time to explain vis bellica.
My feeling is the entry question had been breached.
I appreciate your difficulties in dealing with the individual posts that spammers post. However something needs to be done.

Given the levels of both tabletop and real-life expertise on this forum, surely some sort of Death Squad wouldn't be out of the question?
(Once the Rugby World Cup is done and dusted, obviously.)

Personally, I think that new members should only be able to post after they have been a member for 7 days.
I know it is hard on the genuine new guys, but until an automatic spam killer is found, I think it is the best way.
Their first post must be to introduce themselves.

Other sites have your first few posts moderated - then they can check if you are a spammer or not.

Some people register to ask a question or talk about a specific topic, if they have to wait 7 days to do it they might lost interest.Gun-Pit Paul wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 7:38 amPersonally, I think that new members should only be able to post after they have been a member for 7 days.

If I remember correctly there is a secret question when you register, it's strange that spambots are getting pass this. Maybe they need to try a different method for captchas.
PS: Sorry for derailing this topic even more, we should take this discussion somewhere else!

The secret question should be changed every week or two (vary it).
Plus, while your first few posts are monitored, your first on should introduce yourself.

It's the first 5 - 10 in most other sites I belong to, and any one word "Hello" type posts usually result in an auto ban.Truscott Trotter wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2019 7:49 amOther sites have your first few posts moderated - then they can check if you are a spammer or not.
