Forum registration – validation question problem

Post by alphus99 » Wed Apr 24, 2019 2:16 pm

Hi

I finally managed to get through the forum registration process and I wonder if the validation question needs to be a little easier?

"what are the missing letters from this set of rules: K_IE__SPIE_:"

I answered 'rgl' and it says "You have provided an invalid answer to the question." - huh?

A member of the TFL Yahoo group pointed out that it might be the spelling with double 's'

So I tried 'rgsl' – still no good.

Finally, I tried the capitals version of this: 'RGSL' and was allowed in.

I wonder how many people have given up trying to register? Perhaps another word needs using – not one with variant spellings – and clarification of whether capitals are required in the answer :)

Al

Just be glad you didn't have to enter them in Gothic Script!

It's better than the previous one about Napoleon's last battle - I'm fairly sure "stomach ulcer" doesn't start with a "W" (or end with an "o").

It took me two days to figure it out... but I persevered! I think it is a perfect question that brings in the true fans of the game!

Sorry guys but I just registered and took 5 seconds, The word was in caps so I used caps and I remembered that there are two SS.....

Its a good word because only those of us dedicated wargame nerds would even know what it is! Keeps out the forum pirates. :)

I was going to give up after 20 minutes of guessing and pecking on the key board. I was about to say the hell with it ! Then as a last resort I checked the forum and found this thread ! So, Thanks and maybe an easier question like Whats the last word in "What a ____" would be a good anti robot question.

I think inadvertently we've made the answer to the question public via this thread so it should be changed. Only takes a quick google to find the right entry and tell the bot to enter the correct letters in the form field.
