Hello Sailor

Post by scottphilipfalconer » Tue Jan 03, 2017 9:36 am

Is there any way I can find rules for Hello Sailor? I have only seen references to it on the forums and on the Durham Wargames Group website. From what i can understand it was only in playtesting but my brother and I would love to get our hands on the rules as we are very much into the Mediterranean theatre of WWW2 as well as naval combat. Alternatively, any suggestions for other naval combat games?

I can recommend General Quarters 3; a very good set of rules with enough detail to be interesting, but not so much as to big things down. Available from Old Dominion Game works (odgw.com)
I have a playtest copy of Hello Sailor; it's got some nice ideas (particularly the damage ladder), but it only works for small numbers of ships. So River Plate or Denmark strait, not Barents Sea or Matapan.
GQ3 will work for all sizes of battle (and the WW1 rules Fleet Action Imminent are also very good).

Is that the new TFL game about trying to get home from the pub on Sat night in Portsmouth?

I believe it is still possible to obtain copies of the French version - "A l'eau, c'est l'heure!" (which, by pure chance, is also the motto of the French navy).
