Not my period really, but I did see the new Australian movie about Long Tan - highly recommended. The military stuff looks to be on the mark.

I met most of those blokes when her indoors did the 40th Anniversary Long Tan special for the Canberra Times. Bob Buick being another Saffer spent a fair bit of time with her. I'm looking forward to seeing this one.

Gutted that it's only available on Region 1 format so won't play on UK DVD players.

I have been playing DVDs through my laptop and then casting to screen. If you still have a laptop old enough to have a DVD drive it might be worth a try.

Watched this movie and it’s very entertaining! Well worth a look.
But the story has some ‘Hollywood style’ spicing up
...
I highly recommend this...a doco with interviews with those that were there, narrated by Sam Worthington.

I usually watch this (amongst other doco’s) as part of my ANZAC Day routine!
Cheers

Re: New Vietnam Movie - Danger Close
I just wonder why they got an Aussie to play the part of a Saffer (Bob Buick) - the old bugger still had a South African accent when I met him in 2006 for the 40th anniversary. There's quite a few of 6 RAR that thought he should have got a serious medal.
And Harry Smith, at the dedication of the memorial in Canberra, stood in front of the fountain, with the morning sun behind him, I will never tire of telling the story that one old digger behind me was heard to growl 'Harry always thought the sun shone out of his arse, and now there's proof'.
