Re: Chain of Command - Vietnam AAR

Are these rule mods to CoC available as a package anywhere?

Through The Fields a CoC AAR

After trying several scenarios based on modified maps from various CoC mini-campaigns, we tried to design our own. Talk about "snatching victory from the jaws of defeat"!See:

Re: Game aides

We use the 18" Dowel idea but paint 12" of it in White and the last 6" in red, thus it serves both purposes. I also have a 4",6" and 9" dowels. The 6" and 9" dowel are color coded to match a stripe on the commander's stand; White for JL and blue for SL.

Re: MAPS

Often enough an AAR is the only intro to a new scenario that we may get. If the AAR is for some action in one of the mini campaigns, OK, I can look it up. I If its a new or one-of scenarios written by a member that has not been published that I am talking about. There we need a map and a T,O,& E. Di...

Re: MAPS

For me, at least, maps allow me to better follow the AAR. The T,O,& E gives me insight into the tactical thinking of the participants. If I want to recreate the same scenario, I can modify it to match the terrain and troops that I have - I do this all the time with the mini campaigns. I just think t...

MAPS

I love reading all the AARs here and on various CoC player's blogs. My frustration is that when the report is about a game that does not appear in a mini campaign or in one of the seasonal publications (in other words, it was designed by one of the participants), they do not contain a map and a T,O,...

Re: Running a tournament. Any advice?

I have played with gamers who have 30/40 years (yes! 40 years!) experience with historical miniatures who when introduced to a new set of rules, though experienced in gaming, have difficulty with the nuances of the rules. So they play their first few games with more forgiving forces. No one here see...

Re: Running a tournament. Any advice?

You might try balancing the sides based on the relative experience of the players. See http://balagan.info/crossfire-2-foot-pa ... s-at-selwg Look under "morale".

Re: Deployment vs movement

Play the game by "this is the situation I want to play" not "How can use the rules to win" Often more easily daid then done! Some gamers I have gamed with are primarily competition gamers - Flames of War, Bolt action, etc. They come to the game with yellow highlighted CoC rules and use every nuance ...
