So, I started a blog....

After thinking about it for a while, I've decided to start a gaming blog. I will be focusing on my 1/1200 scale sailing ships, since they are my longest-running miniatures period. I first started building ships and playing naval games back in high school during the early 1980's. I did leave myself a...

Re: A KMH campaign system: What would you want to see in it?

Unfortunately, it has sort of died on me. The trouble is in balancing complexity and playability, AND needing a referee for the real double-blind "feel" of Age of Sail campaigning. I will pick it up again in a few months, if I get some inspirations on how to make things simpler.

Re: My First Solo Game With PC

OK, so I looked through that thread and it makes a lot of sense for Elephant, particularly with your description of how you use it. I can also see where it would be useful in PC during charges, and I think that's what he was trying to get at with his descriptions of leading and supporting units. I'm...

Re: My First Solo Game With PC

My superpower is not number specific; I'm simply able to roll whatever number I DON"T need at the time. Would you explain regulating regiments a bit more please? I went through the indexes of some of my books last night, but didn't find anything on them. My drill manuals I had while reenacting...

Re: My First Solo Game With PC

While I might wax poetic about the JR2 days, I don't miss them either. Firing was something else: double this, go up this many columns, and all that. I suspect the nostalgia comes from the fact we could get a large group of players together every other weekend or so. I also like the idea of rating c...

Re: My First Solo Game With PC

Oh, so do I. Just from reading them, it sounds like they are going to fill the hole left when Johnny Reb 2 was replaced by the 3rd edition. As I mentioned on TMP, TCHAE never really felt right to me, but I can't put a finger as to why.

Re: My First Solo Game With PC

Eh, first go-round and all that. At least you're willing to put your mistakes up for everyone to learn from.

Re: My First Solo Game With PC

Your comment about Fire Discipline made me go back and reread that section of the rules. FD is not recovered at the end of a turn. Instead, the unit has to remain still through the next movement phase, and THEN it regains FD. It can make a formation change, but any other movement means that FD is no...
