Re: Dealing with Mortars 101

4.) Deploy other units – I had units off table but as 3 of the 4 JP’s were covered and even if the barrage is not activated the rule on p 47 state “Any troops in the barrage area are Pinned until the barrage ends.” It would appear you cannot move through the barrage area at all So apart from conced...

Re: Defensive tactics - Soviet Barbarossa

Oh and another quote from this source: The Germans employ many kinds of tank obstacles. They recently have used static flame throwers dug into the ground. Usually sited in pairs and in conjunction with other tank obstacles, they are fired by well concealed personnel as soon as hostile tanks come wit...

Re: Defensive tactics - Soviet Barbarossa

Regarding frontages some quick calculations. Ground scale stated in rulebook 12" = 40 yards (remember this is regardless of minature scale) i.e. roughly correct for 15mm minatures. 4' is 160 yards. 6' is 240 yards. 8' is 320 yards. A (very) quick google suggests a company frontage of 200 to 500m, so...

Re: T-28

To be honest, I don't see why any tank cannot activate any position on a 1. The command dice are precious resources and spending 1 to activate a tank MG means you are not activating a different "team" elsewhere. I assume its to give the initiative to the infantry. If you double the chance of a tank...

Re: Sniper and piat Fire on halftrack

Hi, 1. We ruled the HT had a junior leader and a MG42 which I think is possibly incorrect. HT therefore moved on a 3. The 250 does not have its' own junior leader or mg42; the recon team mounted in the 251 has a junior leader and mg42. Also, as you may be aware, the FAQ says "A: The Leader is ALWAY...

Re: Covering fire question

I wasn't sure about this myself but the FAQ does say: Q: When a section is subject to covering fire by an elite force, that section won't be able to target any of the elite teams at effective range. Is this correct or is a roll of six always a hit? A: That is correct. ---- Myself I play that a 7+ to...

Re: Stuck on a barrage

I can see why you were confused as the example says "an 8cm mortar has four Firepower points" and the Master Arsenal table is the same. It should say "an 8cm mortar BATTERY has four Firepower points". Also remember barrages hit Teams not Sections. But in the FAQ it clarifies that when you have secti...

Re: Why is shooter veterancy not taken into account?

I rationalised this in my own mind by thinking of 'kills' as no such thing - they are combat ineffective. This makes more sense to me - more elite troops are harder to break. Plus their fieldcraft it possibly better so it adds up. Still doesn't totally make sense to me but I'm going to play a lot mo...

Re: Talking Tactics

Just to add - I don't think it will put off anyone who would enjoy TFL game's.

I for one found them useful. I'll have to try the approach with scout teams.

Not sure what else is needed. Counters to the above I guess, what to do in defence.

Re: CoC - What scale do you play?

Personally I thought about this long and hard. 28mm minatures obviously looks great and the Perry minatures Africa models were my first idea to buy. However I knew that smaller would be cheaper and quicker to paint. In the end I went with 15mm mainly because that way I could get a decent game on my ...
