Re: More Sniper Questions

Thanks guys, an interesting discussion. I have to keep reminding myself that there is a difference between a projectile launched from an ATR and a rifle grenade. I just did a google search and could find no evidence that a Paratroop section carried rifle grenades or ATR. They did carry a lot of gre...

Re: More Sniper Questions

To me: AT rifle grenades, WP ammo, and main gun smoke for AFVs are the biggest things missing from CoC v1. The biggest issue for main gun smoke for AFVs is probably determining which AFVs would normally carry it since I don't think non-WP smoke was part of the standard load for most tanks at least....

Re: More Sniper Questions

They should be better than an ATR for penetration otherwise why were they introduced. I suggest using the Panzerfaust 60 (or 100) ranges for the range bands since those seem about right for an effective range of 100 yards or so. According to wikpedia,, the British No. 68 grenade could enetrate 5 cm ...

Re: More Sniper Questions

Adding rules to cover AT rifle grenades shouldn't be any more complicated than adding another weapon class like bazooka, panzerfaust, etc. That plus including them in the limits for grenade availability. So no new rules, just one more line in some of the national weapons tables where it applies. Chris

Re: More Sniper Questions

A definite hole in the rules is the absence of AT rifle grenades which should be treated as AT fire rather than like firing light mortar HE at an AFV. Almost certainly the AT rifle grenades should be more effective against lightly armored AFVs than using a normal HE grenade. As a quick suggestion fo...

Re: Many Rivers to Cross - Stuka Support Question

Do you think a pre-game barrage would be available again when Blitzing? I also think that wouldn't be available for the second game when blitzing. I can't see any reason why not - I would have expected it to be specifically mentioned in the campaign rules for Blitzing same question applies to Shabb...

Re: Many Rivers to Cross - Stuka Support Question

Maybe the the Stuka squadron returns later in the day or has a second wave. I do not see any difference between that and reusing your offboard Battalion mortars in the next game. The battalion mortars are a unit from your battalion and are troops who have to be activated. Given that the Stukas can'...

Re: 25 pounder?

They were also used in North Africa over open sights as a reasonably effect AT weapon so might be included for scenarios set there.

Re: More Sniper Questions

The rules really do mention sniping at a crew member firing a weapon on top of the vehicle, e.g. AA MG so I probably wouldn't allow sniper fire at an open top vehicle in general. If the sniper is in an elevated position where they could fire down into the open compartment or if firing from an angle ...

Re: More Sniper Questions

As a matter of playing the period as opposed to the rules, The 150mm sIG on the Pz38t chassis carried only 15 rounds. If anything, I'd guess that the version on the Lorraine Schlepper carried fewer or at least no more. Given that, using the SP 150 sIG to systematically level all the buildings on the...
