Needed: German CO to pick supports
I'm planning to play a (solo) game this weekend: US attacking Germans, Scenario 4 - Delaying Action. The action is based on the US 117th Rgt moving through the bocage after crossing the Vire River on 7 July, meeting ad hoc delaying elements of Kampfgruppe Heinz set up around a farm complex on a hill...

Fog...not of war, but of visibility
My curiosity is centered on the morning of 16 Dec 44, but figured it was generic enough to post on this thread. I assume the range of tactical visibility in fog is equivalent to the length of a piece of string, but wondered what people (other than me) thought would be an acceptable range to impose o...

Re: Minefield deployment
I agree with Seret. You can choose to place an obstacle (mine/wire) deep in the enemy zone, but for what gain? From a storyteller's standpoint (which I like to believe infuses the Island) I treat such placements as things the opposing force has discovered in the patrol phase and subsequently dismiss...

Re: Flight Stands
DIY I use a ring magnet (on model) and a ball bearing (on stand) that works well enough on 1/600 stuff...dunno how it would hold up with bigger (I assume metal?) models, though. https://i575.photobucket.com/albums/ss191/brawlfactory/WW2%20Aircombat/ring%20magnet%20and%20ball-bearing%20mounting%20sys...

Re: Rifleman - but what gun?
As to the effect on the game, this seems to me to be reflected in the granular application of hits/kills by team. Now we're looking at applying effects to individual team members. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but all players must (imo) agree before the game to the conditions I ran a game wher...

Re: Movement near the edge of a woods.
"...he has to move what is rolled and move the whole 5" " Just to be clear: The player has the option of declaring the final position to be a specific terrain feature - in this case, the hedge - so that the troops would not be forced to cross it into the field beyond just because a '5' was rolled wh...

Re: Forests vs Orchards
No surprise: It all comes down to the players agreeing on the impact of the terrain, which is at the core of the Lardies mindset.
