Re: Overwatch Fire

I agree. It's one thing to have a friendly discussion about rules to try to reach a reasonable consensus as to its intent. There are always bits to clarify, although I don't think this is one of them. To be honest, I hadn't actually noticed exactly what it said until I read this thread, the intent w...

Re: Support List Question

Vis-a-vis the British halftracks, my understanding is that they were ordered by the War Office without MGs, as doctrine said not to fight from them. Troops found ways to acquire them, however, and at least one armoured division (11th?) removed the .50 cal AA mgs from their shermans and mounted them ...

Re: Converting some guys from FoW to IABSM!

Hi Jaime, Have you looked at the force builder in Chain of Command? You could start by picking a platoon from there, multiply it up to get a company (look at bayonetstrength.com for the appropriate TOE if you're not sure how many platoons are involved, or just just use the rule of thumb that most la...

Re: Couple more questions from tonight's game

OK, my answers (may of course be overruled by the Big Kahuna!):- Rich has said that he considers one floor difference to not Will it risk damaging the tank? If the tank is not in the blast zone, then fine. What height is the target at? The main gun will have a minimum elevation that makes it impossi...

Re: Overwatch Fire

More seriously, you could just tell him that the zone described when the overwatch order is given will be the lines of sight in the area designated. If an enemy comes into sight, whether that is moving into clear view or up to a terrain feature that was previously hiding them, then they have 'moved ...

Re: Deploy and Activate?

Personally I would just apply a bit of common sense - they don't have teleporters, so they can't appear in plain sight, they can't deploy within 4" or they would have been forced into close combat on the opponent's phase (unless there is a clear obstacle in the way, which means no shooting or fighti...

Re: using a "2" ... coming from the FAQ thread

Hi, I would be inclined to say any more than two scouts is splitting the section, so the Soviets can have big scout teams, but at a cost to their command ability over the section. As to the rest of your examples, I would say you now have teams, not sections. Lastly, the grouping of Bren teams - you ...

Re: Reviews of TOTW

Hi, We've played SCW using IABSM here in Durham, although not in the last couple of years. There's a set of rule modifications specifically for it in the TFL Summer Special of 2004, called 'Up Your Cara El Sol', along with a scenario. This is V2 of IABSM of course, but the functional differences bet...

Re: Infantry Anti-Tank Weapons vs Troops

Hi, I think it is one of those cases of the rule being so simple and obvious that no-one proof-reading it realises that it doesn't explicitly say so... From Rich's answer, I think the actual rule is 'For direct HE fire, roll on table 5 treating the range as short, double the number of hits if using ...
