Re: Do any Pint-Sized Campaigns contain lists with STG44s?

I would use Grenadierkompanie K.St.N.131V (1.9.1944) available here: http://www.wwiidaybyday.com/ The later KSTN that TT referenced may never have been implemented, it was a revision of the above IIRC most of the VG Divisions used the above KSTN. They were formed before the later KSTN. The main diff...

The 1939 FJ MG ZUG. 1 Officer 6 NCOs 30 Men 4 sMG34 10 Rifles 36 Pistols 1 Biycycle The men were not strictly allocated to teams early FJ KSTN comprised of a pool of personnel which would be mission tasked. However a Half ZUG would have probably operated as a Section of 2 sMG34 something along these...

Re: Do any Pint-Sized Campaigns contain lists with STG44s?

STG44s/MP44s were generally issued to Volksgrenadier Divisions, not for the most part good quality troops. Some found there way into Fallschirmjager and SS PzGrenadier units during the Bulge but on a very limited issue. Later they were issued to SkiJager (one unit at least being fully equipped so)an...

Re: Random thought/s on close combat

In real life you only Close assault when youre enemy is pinned or surprised, you have to read the situation Close Assault is the finishing stage of any section attack but you wont enter that phase if your enemy is still capable of returning fire. You want him cowering at the bottom of his trench or ...

Re: 1940 Handbook questions / erratas

Id say if every German Squad Leader has an SMG (there was a shortage of MP in the German Army until 1941)and the British can get Thompsons (there were a total of 6 or 7 in the First BEF) then maybe ATR should be on the German support lists.

Re: Possible Barrage House Rules

There seems to be varying opinions on how accurately mortar barrages of this sort could be moved around. Is there a consensus opinion on whether it is as precise as simulated in the rules, or some sources that talk about it that anyone is aware of? The manual also notes that point fire (e.g. on a m...

Re: Early British Platoon Video

Yes. There are accounts of veterans that say they never received Battle Drill training. Even when in the UK for several years post France 40. I can quite believe it. Certainly they would have had to send Officers and NCOs to Battle schools but if the Regiment was traditionalist it could have avoided...

Re: 1939 Poles errata

Yep. There were some very good Italian troops. The Bersaglieri and Alpini were generally competent and easily the equal of any armies regular Infantry. The Paras were excellent and their Artillery and Armoured units suffered from no lack of Moral Fibre. Even some of the Blackshirt units had good com...

Re: 1939 Poles errata

I'm also against strolling vagabond solitary support assets. You will notice that with commendable self-control, I avoided using my favourite 'ALAMLHLNM' in relation to a single tank/armoured car being attached to an infantry platoon  I find my self buying model tanks in Platoon strength. I ca...
