Re: Covering fire

I'm happy to go with the covering fire getting cancelled but it seems to be a bit like purgatory - a logical extrapolation of the rules without any explicit basis. I agree that the rule is kinda gamey (and by the rules it doesn't seem to be stopped by LOS blockage nor does it restrict the firing un...

Re: Covering fire

It's Find, Fix, Flank not Find, Fix, Charge. The rifle team will seek to move to the flank of the covered enemy. If the situation is such that you can only attack an enemy by moving through your own fire, then the LMG team, in this case, should just suppress the enemy with regular fire, not use Cove...

Re: Rifle grenades

The US distributed the grenade launcher in large numbers, about 1 for every three or four rifles. However, connecting the launcher to the M1 disabled that rifle's semi-automatic fire. One of the things the rules don't cover is that, at least for the US, the rifle grenade was treated as a squad level...

Re: Multiple Grenade Attacks

A CI from a leader can activate a LMG or rifle team both of which will generally have 6 dice resulting in 2 or 3 hits. Using a CI to throw a grenade might get 2 hits but it also might damage your own unit. Using multiple CIs from multiple leaders will generally be a poor use of a resource. I see no ...

Can a Senior or Junior Leader still off board use his Command Initiative?

Re: Squad Sections - More Than Two...

A squad with more than two teams shouldn't be too uncommon. I'm working on the US Cavalry platoon which has a scout section with six teams. I'm not sure how that will translate to CoC.

Re: Halftracks and mounting weapons.

So, I guess halftrack mounted team weapons don't get reduced firepower if only one member of the team is left (or the rest dismounted).

Re: small arms fire vs soft skins

Are the 6's that are counted the ones from the To-Hit rolls or from the Effect rolls?

Re: Halftracks and mounting weapons.

Perhaps they should. Do the rules state that they don't or do the rules not say that they do? I don't have my rules to hand at the moment. The Arsenal Table on pg 37 (pdf) shows vehicle mounted MGs having their full firepower despite the fact that all are operated by one man (and often have limited...

Re: Halftracks and mounting weapons.

Do halftrack mounted MGs suffer from the only-one-crew rule? Tank mounted MGs don't.
