Re: Skirmisher Allocation
Gentlemen The 24th Legere did have two batts in the second scenario (this game has three linked scenarios) which we have just fought. We are now on the final scenario and the 24th now has just one batt. It also has dropped moral from 'elite' to 'line'. Pyjamas - all light infantry when deployed into...

Re: Skirmisher Allocation
Morning Folks Totally get that a 'Single Unit 'Brigade' does not generate an ADC, I was focusing on the skirmisher allocation aspect. In the game notes the 24th Light is designated Schiner's Brigade (Page 26). No reference is made in relation to the possibility of joining units to make bigger brigad...

Skirmisher Allocation
Hi All Just about to fight 'Attack of the Russian Imperial Guard' at Austerlitz (Napoleonic Scenarios Bk 3). The French have a single unit Brigade in the form of the 24th Light Infantry. I will deploy this unit and thus have four skirmisher bases. My question is, would I also have an extra base as t...

Re: A Random cavalry battle
I very much liked the video. Totally jealous of the size of your table.
Is there any specific reason why most of your cavalry charges are conducted in 'line' formation.
We would only use line if we had small units. In all other cases we use two ranks.

Re: Take the Ground (and be wiped out)
John With regard to units from a hesitant brigade supporting each other, my understanding was that hesitant units could not move closer to the enemy (albeit they may wheel to meet a charge). If they were drawn into a melee as a result of 'supporting' would that not could as a forward movement, or am...

Take the Ground (and be wiped out)
Evening Everyone We had a very enjoyable game today. Just two areas of debate that I would seek your advice on. "Take the ground" My French column charged an Austrian Line. The line retreated and the French result was "Take the Ground". Now in taking the ground the unfortunate French column came int...

Re: Stare-Vinobrady (Austerlitz) - Cover
Thank you for the clarification.
While the distinction between 'hard' and 'soft' cover with regard to firing, is now relegated to the history bin. I still think a hit is a hit. Being behind a leaf presents less protection than behind a wall - I know where I would feel safer.

Stare-Vinobrady (Austerlitz) - Cover
Morning All In the Stare-Vinobrady (old vineyard) Austerlitz game we will shortly play I would seek clarification in relation to the cover the vines provide. As DB stated, the vines provide 'cover' and represent 'difficult terrain' if troops attempt to fire or cross them, but no cover and good terra...
