Re: My Kelly's Hero's Project/Campaign

Hi Greg,
How are thing going in Tucson? Actually the halftrack in "Kelly's Heroes" is suppose to be a tank-destroyer so I would go with a M3 75mm GMC.

Re: panzer grenadiers

The Sdkfz251/10 had the 3.7cm gun for direct fire support for the PzGrs not to fight tanks with. It may not have had a big punch but it was good enough to punch hole in buildings and earthen bunkers. Also think of it as a long range grenade launcher. There were lots of otherwise unused 3.7cm guns ar...

Re: Shreck, faust and bazooka fire

"You don't need a CI to fire an AT weapon at a vehicle; just an ordinary activation will do. That's what the weapon was for. It wasn't meant to fire at infantry or buildings and the teams did not carry the ammunition to fire on these targets on a whim. The last thing an AT team wants to have happen ...

Re: FJ42 rifle,

I believe this line from your quote of the wiki makes my point, "This made full-automatic fire only marginally useful." Where as I know from personal experience the MP43/STG44 is very controllable on full auto, especially when firing three round bursts. So in my opinion the FG42 isn't as good a assa...

Re: FJ42 rifle,

The problem with it being rated like an assault rifle is that it used the full size 7.92mm round, unlike the MP43/STG44 which used the less powerful 8mm Kurtz round. Due to it's using the full sized round and the fact of it's light weight meant that on full auto it was virtually uncontrollable and p...

Re: FJ42 rifle,

That is a very poor comparison. They are testing the BAR as a battle rifle which it isn't not as a squad support weapon which it is. Also not really fair as the guy using the BAR has by his own admission never even handled the BAR before the competition. I have fired the BAR on a few occasions and f...

Re: FJ42 rifle,

Go with treating it as a BAR. It used the full sized 7.92 cartridge unlike the MP43/STG44 which used the 8mm Kurtz. IIRC the plan was to issue two per squad and remove the LMG. The problem was the FG43 was to lightly built to save weight and the full charge 7.92 round tended to beat up pretty badly....

Re: Mortars

The mortar bonus card just gives you a better chance of having of having a mortar card come up.

Rich has stated several times that units coming off blinds have the 4 dice to use as they want.
