I was talking about those troops that roll six normal dice, as defined in the rule book. Obviously by not counting 5 or 6 on the sixth coloured dice, then the probability is the same as when you roll just five normal dice.

Re: Close Combat question

I disagree, she's 'skylining', she should be in that shadowy lee, slightly to her left.

Re: 1939-era Polish cavalry

Tom's Tins, which are the core of the EWM range, were nominally 1/76... but on occasion vehicles might be closer to 1/72. I would imagine that as Tom still sculpts for EWM, that the same holds true.

You could perhaps ask EWM for measurements before buying?

Re: Close Combat question

I think there's an assumption that close combat automatically means hand to hand combat, something not helped by the figures almost being able to touch each other. Tabletop 4" is 36' - which is not far off the 45' often taken as the outside distance where 'close assault' or 'close quarter battle' oc...

Re: AP against Bunkers

I suggested that because it seems like a simple way to address Flak used against bunkers. I can't read Rich's mind, but given the description he gave, if he intended cover to be reduced he would have said. I'll accept he may have assumed it needn't be stated all the same. The thing is that these are...

Re: Green Troops and 4 Command Dice - A quick and easy solution to balance 6's rolled with 4, 5 or 6 command dice.

Yes, when you bear in mind that six dice will probably roll a double six roughly once in four rolls, while it's only about one in nine for four dice, that's quite an advantage. The 'Green Dice' does level the playing field in the opposite manner to the Red Dice, giving everyone the chance of doing i...

Me too. If you assume that the NCOs have some experience and the platoon leader is average, five dice covers it. Deciding on Green, Regular, or Elite for the platoon itself is just a reflection on the relative proportions of newbies, typical guys and veterans within the unit. You might grant 'esprit...

Re: 1944 Free French Forces

Yes it's a useful point Seret makes; a JL is a role and not a rank. There may be 'chosen men', lance-corporals, corporals, or even sergeants, in charge of teams or small groups of men, but a JL is a section/squad leader of two or more small groups or teams, or a single large group. From a practical ...

Re: AP against Bunkers

Over-thinking may be the problem here. From reading the support notes I'd just use it as 12 HE dice against fortifications and that's all. Although it is an off-table 88mm, that Rich decided not to call it that says to me he was going for a single type of effect on a specific target type. Take it so...
