Re: SOME GENERIC SPECIAL RULES

Honestly, I'd just run them as a separate rifle and LMG team. I already do so for Soviets. Having everyone's squads follow the same rules keeps things much more straightforward: you don't have to worry about how running, entrenchments, mortars, tank overruns, casualties, etc. might interact weirdly ...

Re: Recommended lists for using the French?

Following up because I see you'd posted the Japanese list question as well. I'll point out that traditional French troops are one of the most flexible options as far as gaming opponents go: under the banner of Vichy or Free France they fought nearly everyone at one point or another, including agains...

Re: Recommended lists for using the French?

As others have pointed out there's quite a bit of variety available, so I'd recommend talking to your friend about what you both want to collect and play. If you have a regular gaming partner it always helps to pick out armies that compliment each other. Generally, you can approach it one of two way...

Re: infantry in buildings.

Yup, what Seret said. Only note I'll add is that in your case of firing at the side window, hits from HE weapons could spread to other teams in the building if they were within 4", as HE fired at an enemy-occupied building doesn't need line of sight to the figures themselves, just the part of the bu...

Re: Do Vehicles count as a Team when trying to win a "Probe" game ?

I'd count any vehicle with crewed weapons. A transport vehicle with only a driver isn't good enough, but a mounted MG on a halftrack or carrier would suffice.

Yup one of our major issues..
We made the beaten zone have a variable componenet, (rolled each phase) +1D6" so if you get too close you risk being hit.
Nice! I'd been thinking similar.

Re: Hornblower / Aubrey type antics

I'm doing Royal Marines as well, and plan on using them the same as you: deployed as line or light troops as desired. Complements were supposed to be 1 Marine per ship's gun, so you're looking at 3-5 groups for a frigate. Haven't gotten as far as the sailors yet, but was planning on doing similar, a...

Re: Little help here

(Often find that my Brits at 6 pts per group simply get overwhelmed by French conscripts at 4 pts each.) As I get into the game here, I'm also scratching my head as to why line infantry cost and rating varies so much with so little apparent effect on their per-unit performance. Troop Quality is a s...

Re: Starting in CoC, looking for help on 15mm vs 20mm

As has been pointed out, no scale is wrong, but they can play differently. At the end of the day it's personal preference. I came into CoC with existing 20mm forces and terrain and so that's what scale I play in. I made a comparison shot of my Gembloux Gap table for Scenario 1 in 20mm and the Lardi...

Re: Napoleonic French Dragoons

I'd give them full movement and shooting while dismounted, although I might not give them the free skirmish move on the turn they mount/dismount.

They already have to detach figures to hold the horses, I don't see any gameplay reason to penalize them further.
